Dear Blake Families:
Despite the rainy weather this weekend, I hope that everyone has found some time to relax. As you all know, I value the process of reflection and I believe it is important to find time within each day, ideally, but certainly within a week to find time to reflect. Every Friday I try to find some time to think about the week that just passed (taking time to note/highlight successes and recognize/identify challenges that became evident) and begin to look ahead to the coming week. It is often from this reflective period that thoughts begin to come together for the weekly message(s) in this blog -- events that have transpired, articles that have been read, thoughts that have come to mind, etc. As you know this weekly communication has been an avenue for me to be transparent about the values, vision, and practices that I believe we want for our students, staff, and community. That said, I know it is equally important for me to find some down time, 'unplug', and take a breath. This is a challenge for me, but it is also a goal I know is worthy of pursuit. With this in mind, recognizing that my 'to do' list will always be there and that family time is of great importance, consider this week's blog update an abridged version. In the absence of an article or thematic thread to think about, I do want to share this quotation that I came across this week when planning for this week's professional day, as I believe it directly relates to the hopes we have for our students and underscores the value of perseverance:
If people only knew how hard I work to gain my mastery, it wouldn't seem so wonderful at all.
